USF On-Campus Football Stadium Approved!

Long will be the days of football games at Raymond James Stadium. Last week, the Board of Trustees approved funding of a $22 million on-campus stadium to be placed right next to their newest $22 million indoor facility, which has been open to use for student athletes since January. This comes as but a small portion of a large-scale masterplan for more golfing space, lacrosse stadium, tennis facility, and baseball and softball fields. They have selected Populous and Barton Malow to collaborate as the design team for the new stadium- depending on planning, permitting, development, and execution, they've projected the facility to be fully running by 2027.

Head coach Alex Golesh, who was a 2022 Broyles Award finalist and recently took over the USF team, says that he hopes the new stadium will even the playing field. Not having an on-campus stadium may have hindered the team's performance and Golesh hopes this will boost fanfare, ticket sales, attendance within the community, and even get them into a new league! More updates to be announced as we hear more!
