The Moving Checklist Everyone Needs
The Ultimate Moving Checklist everyone needs to know before moving!
We all know that moving is no joke! It can be time-consuming and a big hassle. If you've ever moved before, plan to move, or know someone that is moving, here is a moving checklist to hopefully make this process a little bit easier for you!
Throw out or sell anything that you do not need anymore. All of those things you haven't touched in over a year or two, forgot you had or are simply useless moving forward. A couple of months before you officially move is the perfect time to go through all of your things and see what you have and what you would like to bring into this new chapter of your life. Doing this a couple of months beforehand will result in fewer annoying boxes, less time spent packing and unpacking, and less clutter in your new space.
Think realistically about how many things you have to move. Is it possible to move all of your things yourself or with the help of friends? Or will you need to hire a moving company? Moving companies tend to book up a few months out and can be pretty expensive so thinking about this in advance is a must to make sure you have the extra expenses to hire someone or enough room in your own vehicle to move on your own.
Packing often takes longer than expected so start about a month or two before your move-in date. This will result in less stress and feeling less overwhelmed on a short time crunch to pack up all of your things. Packing what you can, small things like books, extra clothes or shoes, tupperware, all of those extra bathroom products, etc.
Save the essential items until last. Toiletries, cleaning items, everyday clothes, food, etc. should be some of the last things you pack as you will definitely still need them right up to the day of your move. It’s also a good idea not to pack tools such as screwdrivers or Allen keys too early, as there could be some last-minute furniture you forgot to take apart. It will be such a hassle if you accidentally packed away something you need and have to dig through boxes to find it.
Lastly, make sure everything gets put in boxes or bags beside your furniture. This will make the loading and unloading process so much quicker and easier. Instead of having a bunch of little items laying around individually in the car, put them all in boxes to make fewer trips back out to the car and easier to carry everything in at once. Once everything gets inside, you can go through and put things where they belong.
If you are feeling nervous or stressed about your upcoming moving process, hopefully, this checklist will ease your mind a little and make things less of a hassle.
