St-Pete-Based Food Truck Shiso Crispy To Be Featured on Guy’s Grocery Games

Shiso Crispy's Owner Ronnicca Whaley Will Be Competing in A 5 Week Long Special

Ronicca Whaley, owner of St Petersburg’s Shiso Crispy food truck announced that she will be returning to compete in a five-week long tournament, which begins airing on July 6th on the Food Network! The competition will be a special event for Guy Fieri’s show, Guy’s Grocery Games, which sees competing chefs take on challenges across “Flavortown Market”, making delicious dishes from the special ingredients provided. Hopefully, the grand prize, which on normal episodes amounts to a whopping $20,000, can be secured to help Whaley continue to spread tasty small plates across the Bay Area.

Shiso Crispy, known for amazing dishes like short rib bao, handmade dumplings, and lobster rangoon, has seen recent success, being voted the #1 food truck by the Tampa Bay Times, and soon opening its first brick-and-mortar restaurant in downtown St Petersburg.

Whaley’s feature on Food Network is not the first time a Tampa native has been on the show!  In Spring of 2021, Tampa native and Riverview High alum Jada Vidal won on “Triple G”. The then 19-year-old shocked judges with her fresh take on southern cuisine and continues to make her hometown proud by hosting cooking demonstrations and pop-ups throughout town.
