Clearwater Beach's Iconic Sugar Sand Festival Returns This Spring
See Towering Sand Sculptures, Stunning Fireworks, Live Music, And More At the Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival
Come check out Clearwater Beach’s largest destination event, and get inspired by the nearly 21,000 square feet of towering sugar sand art. Clearwater Beach’s iconic sand sculpture festival, the Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival, will return this year from April 8th to the 24th with more over-the-top sand creations. Distinguished sculptors from across the globe will use a thousand tons of stunning sugar sand to create museum-quality masterpieces that highlight this year’s theme, Sandimals: An Animal Adventure.
Juried competitions will take place for sand artists of different skill levels, as well as sand sculpting classes, a giant sandbox where families can build towering sugar sand structures, and an 18-foot interactive art installation. While perusing and creating beautiful sand art, you can also listen to live music, witness jaw-dropping stunt performers, and see stunning firework shows light up the night sky.
There’s also plenty to do at the Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival even if you aren’t planning on attending for the sculptures. An amusement park on the beach will have water slides, bounce houses, and a Ferris wheel. A free educational wildlife experience will be at the festival as well, with alligators, sloths, lizards, and amphibian encounters. A corn hole competition on the beach will take place at the festival on Saturday, April 9th with a $500 grand prize. The festival will also host several featured artisans, a sand bar serving locally brewed craft beer and cider, and plenty of great food. The event will even host an exclusive invitation-only dinner, in which guests will try a four-course meal served on tables made entirely out of sand!
