All Aboard The New Self-Driving Shuttle

New self-driving shuttle, AVA, will operate on Bayshore Dr in St. Pete.

The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) has recently announced their new self-driving shuttle that will run through St. Pete. AVA stands for Autonomous Vehicle Advantage and will be one of the first of its kind in the state to operate in mixed traffic.

The plan for AVA is to transport residents and visitors up and down Bayshore Drive. The exact areas of operation are from The Vinoy Hotel to The Dali Museum. The PSTA was looking for a way to safely connect people from place to place and they are exploring the use of AVA in other areas in Pinellas County.

AVA is eco-friendly and is 100% electric. With just a few dollars of electricity, AVA can run for up to 9 hours. The operating hours are from 10:00am -10:00pm Wednesday through Sunday. Riders can enjoy the air-conditioned trip for free but are limited to one ride round-trip. AVA will be operational from November 25th, 2020 – February 15th, 2021.
